The night was jet black to the black warrior as he moved across the soft grass, the thin leaves running along his old and tattered pads. The tom's bright amber eyes pierced through the darkness that was only brightened by the stars of silverpelt that shone down through the pale moonlight that was covered by the threatening clouds.
Several thoughts drifted through Midnightflame's mind as he lept silently onto the water rock, the silvery stone that lay almost at the water's surface. Midnightflame looked down at his reflection in the darkened water and sighed, sending a cloud of steam blowing across the water, the ripples catching the moonlight.

A small tabby she-cat was walking through the forest, unable to sleep. This happened every so often, and it was kind of nice when it did. The moon light shone lightly onto her brown tabby pelt, green eyes soaking up al the light they could, and shining. Sh stopped, yawning and streching, muscls rippeling under her short fur. She heared a rustle of leaves in the trees as the leaf-bare winds blew thought them. She smiled, eyes clouded sleepily.
Another rustly took her attention awak from the mice she was watching scuffle in the bushes. she wasnt going to unt them, they looked to happy. She looked up, brown ears pricked. Slowly creeping towards he sound, she saw a black pelt. Still crouched in the bushes, She waited for the wind to blow in her direction. Midnightflame! She thought, blinking big green eyes. She came out of her crouch. "Hello, Midnightflame." She meowed quietly, swishing her long tail.

The black tom snapped suddenly out of his daydream as his ears pricked up in surprise. Midnightflame looked back and relaxed slightly when he saw Hollypaw. 'Greetings Young Hollypaw,' He meowed solomly, getting to his paws and moving over to her, dipping his head.
Midnightflame's amber eyes burnt down at the grass as he turned away from the apprentice and moved back to his place at the water's edge. 'What are you doing out here of this time of night?' he asked softly.

Hollypaw looked down, embarressed. "I couldn't sleep." She meowed, looking up once more, but scuffing her paws on the ground.
