This is another story i've been stuffing around with, enjoy!
The hunt was on.
Rose could feel the slitheen’s stale breath on the back of her neck, its huge claws scratching at her arms as she sped up as much as she could. There were others surrounding the whole warehouse and deep in her gut she knew that today was the day she would die. After everything she had seen, after everything she had fought for, she was going to be killed by some of the first aliens she had ever encountered. But this time the doctor wasn’t there to save her. Rose dived around the next corner, thumbing for her gun that was strapped tightly to her belt but was unprepared for the drop before her. Like what you see in the cartoons as a kid, she ran right off the edge of the giant drop in the floor. Rose gave a small scream of surprise and turned in time for her curved fingers to latch onto the side of the drop. Rose looked down to the darkness of the what seemed like never ending hole before up towards her hands where the slitheen was now standing over and laughing in its cruel, cracking voices that made Rose’s ears throb in pain.
This was it. Drop and be killed at impact, or be killed in the hunt of the slitheens. Rose looked up at the Slitheens with her eyes filled with horror at the fate that was left for her. Yet, this was the fate that she had chosen for herself. She chose the fate of being killed by aliens as an unsung hero the day she had taken the hand of the man that had given his life for her, over and over again. And now she was going to waste that, after giving up all hope and abandoning what he had taught her. “And now we end this hunt, with a kill,” Rose closed her eyes, pushing her feet up hard against the flat, metal side of the hole and hoisting herself onto proper ground and standing up straight, looking the largest slitheen in the eyes. If this were how she was going to die, then she would at least make it in a respectable way. Rose bowed her head as she looked down at her feet.
“Rose get down!”
Rose looked up sharply and felt her heart give a leap. Hurtling his way down the hall opposite the hole was a tall, ruffled haired man. His intense brown eyes seemed to send ripples of light through the almost completely dark corridor. Rose smiled, tears forming in the brims of her eyes before his words hit her. “Rose, Get Down now!” She ducked as the doctor threw himself at the slitheen with such power that for a moment Rose thought that it would fall over the edge. But it too heard the doctor’s yells and flung its hand at the doctor with the same amount of force and sending him toppling across the ground. Rose gave a gulp and moved to the side as it turned and let out a huge, threatening roar that echoed through the whole building.
The doctor jumped back to his feet and sped forward again, leaping onto the slitheen’s back and pulling it to the ground. The slitheen’s claws raked across the doctor’s cheek, making him yell out in pain but her retaliated with a deep cut into the creature’s shin. The slitheen grabbed the doctor, clawing his chest as it threw him back down the corridor. “Doctor!” Rose screamed, backing against the wall as the slitheen closed in. Rose shrunk down to the floor; curling into a ball and closing her eyes tightly, unable to watch as the slitheen loomed over her.
The doctor pulled himself to his feet again, blood pouring down his face and chest. He pelted down the corridor one last time and launched himself at the slitheen, bowling it away from Rose and off the edge of the gasp. The doctor felt his head pounding with the blood that was running from the huge claw marks that covered his body as he fell down after the slitheen, trying to catch the edge but missing and falling down into the blackness.
Rose gasped and dived to the side just as the doctor fell down, narrowly missing his hand. “Doctor!” She screamed down, her eyes filling with tears as she narrowed her eyes, desperately looking for him. “Doctor!” Her voice echoed through the blackness that filled her world, as did the huge sobs and tears as they fell freely into the hole.
Rose looked franticly down into the whole, unable to believe her own eyes. She looked back down the hall to see the trails of blood and made up her mind. Rose turned and slipped down the edge, grabbing onto the edge like she had before but this time, moving slowly down the wall edge. She landed softly not too far down but the impact still sent a shockwave of pain up through her legs. Rose looked around, unable to see how far she had actually fallen or where she was. She reached into her belt and pulled out her torch, shining it into the darkness. The light barely lit the dark room as she carefully stepped forward. “Doctor,” She yelled out, moving across the soft ground. Suddenly a small groan echoed through the darkness and a leap of faith filled her heart. “Doctor!” Rose ran forward, the light soon hitting the huge, unmoving figure of the slitheen and next to it, the thin and scrawny looking man that was lying on his face, whimpering in pain softly.
